Enbridge Gas Distribution gives back at Winterlude

For 38 years, people from all over the world have attended events at Winterlude – an annual winter festival in Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec. One of the best parts is the 12th annual kick-off pancake breakfast, where Enbridge Gas Distribution employees served more than 3,000 pancakes, 240 litres of hot chocolate and 60 litres of maple syrup during the two-hour event. Joined by community leaders from municipal, provincial and federal governments, employees helped dish out pancakes and syrup to Winterlude attendees.

In addition to the breakfast, Enbridge volunteers set up a booth to educate people about the smell of natural gas. Patrons waiting in line were encouraged to take a Smelfie (a picture of their face reacting to the awful smell of natural gas). Toddlers, teens and senior citizens participated in the fun while learning how to keep safe.

Michael Wagle, Director of Network Operations, has been involved with Enbridge’s free pancake breakfast since 2006 and says that this tradition is just one of the many ways the company gives back to the community and they have fun doing it. “We have a fantastic time meeting our customers, and the breakfast is one of the year’s highlights for our Community Events team.”
