A Message from the President and CEO of CGA (Issue 4, 2016)

Timothy M. Egan - President

We are pleased to bring you another exciting lineup of thought provoking articles, while providing more insight about today’s energy policy dialogue. This issue begins with a piece by our regular columnist, Christopher Sands, reflecting on the potential changing direction of U.S. energy and environmental policies and its implications for Canada under a Trump administration. Following a similar theme, our commentators give us their take on the outcome of the U.S. election and what it means for Canada with respect to energy and environment files. From there, Dina O’Meara, communications consultant and former business writer for the Calgary Herald, explains the momentum behind natural gas vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and what is to come for the industry in the near future. Finally, touching back on an article published by Senator Grant Mitchell in our third issue of 2016, Mike Sullivan, Executive Director of the Canadian Common Ground Alliance provides details around Senate Bill S-229 – An Act respecting underground infrastructure safety – and the importance of damage prevention legislation in Canada. 2016 brought a lot of interesting changes to the energy dialogue and we expect even more interesting developments in 2017!
